Established in memory of Orpheus’ longtime friend, Trustee, supporter, and collaborator, Richard was the first academic to study the unique methods and qualities of Orpheus’ music-making. An internationally recognized professor of social and organizational psychology at Harvard University, Richard used Orpheus as a teaching tool for decades. His award-winning book Leading Teams: Setting the Stage for Great Performances reflected his life-long passion for exploring the ways people communicate and collaborate to achieve common goals and individual satisfaction. His documentation of Orpheus’ democratic process helped expand the reach of the Orpheus Institute to include corporate and academic leaders and students of all disciplines.
